Our mission is to use the theatrical arts to empower youth with confidence to excel in life and to achieve their dreams. LYT provides youth with the opportunity to participate in theatrical performances for the purpose of developing talent, self-confidence, creativity, imagination, discipline, and teamwork. LYT is dedicated to theatrical excellence and providing wholesome quality entertainment for the community.

History of LYT
The Louisville Youth Theatre opened its doors in 2006 with the goal of meeting a need in the Kentuckiana area for a community based children's music theatre. Previous experience convinced the founders of LYT that theater arts can provide a wholesome, positive environment for youth of all ages to grow in self-confidence, teamwork, and individual artistry. LYT is dedicated to helping young people grow as individual actors and creators; to instill in all youth an enthusiasm and appreciation of the arts that they can carry the rest of their lives.
Productions are carefully and purposely chosen for literary merit and to maximize creative opportunities for our young people. Our shows are also selected to appeal to audiences of diverse ages, genders and ethnicities. LYT will produce 2 family oriented main stage musical productions in the 2007-2008 season with youth featured as both actors and technicians. We hope that even more will be impacted through audience participation and LYT's educational programs.
Our love for both children and the arts make a powerful combination. LYT mixes a professional workshop environment with a fun, family type atmosphere. Children are encouraged to stretch themselves to achieve their full potential. To build camaraderie, youth are challenged to view the cast of each production as a team with each individual playing an important role. We want our children to go home on closing night having formed new friendships and feeling they have truly achieved something special. It is this type of setting that attracts youth of all ages, with all levels of experience, to LYT, so that all can share in the magic of theatre.
